Two people died in separate vehicle wrecks Thursday and Friday, according to Arkansas State Police.

A pedestrian was killed Thursday night while crossing U.S. 63 near Williford in Sharp County. A Dodge traveling south on U.S. 63 struck 41-year-old Mickey Ray Williams of Berryville about 11:40 p.m.

Williams was walking from the parking lot of the nearby American Legion post, 1624 Highway 63, state police said. He died at the scene.

The second wreck occurred Friday afternoon in Springdale.

Jacob Wimmer, 30, of Springdale, was driving west on Don Tyson Parkway when he lost control of his Isuzu Rodeo, crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Expedition. The accident happened just west of the Don Tyson Parkway and Turner Street intersection about 3:30 p.m.

Both Wimmer and the driver of the Expedition -- 65-year-old John Barry of Rogers -- were trapped in their cars and had to be removed by the Springdale Fire Department, according to Springdale police.

They were taken to Northwest Medical Center, where Wimmer died shortly after arriving. Barry's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, according to Springdale police.
