Fayetteville To Accept Downed Tree Limbs Today

FAYETTEVILLE -- The city's compost facility, 1708 S. Armstrong Ave., will be open from 8 a.m. to noon today for residents who want to dispose of tree limbs downed in the storm that blew through Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday.

City residents can drop off brush, leaves or grass for free, but they're required to present a recent water bill as proof of residency. Nonresidents, commercial landscapers and contractors will be charged $5 for compact pickups; $8 for full-size pickups; $10 for trailers up to 14 feet long; and $15 for trailers longer than 14 feet, according to the city's website.

The material will be ground into mulch and compost, which will then be sold or given to the public.

Normal compost facility hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon the first two Saturdays of the month.
