Benton County Grievance Hearing Set For Tuesday

BENTONVILLE -- A grievance hearing for Sarah Wilson, who was fired from her job as county comptroller in April, has been set for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Wilson's hearing has been on hold while a settlement was being discussed. County Judge Bob Clinard said that negotiation apparently has ended.

"We heard from her attorney that he no longer represents her and she is seeking a different attorney," Clinard said. "We haven't heard from Sarah directly so we rescheduled the hearing."

Wilson asked to be reinstated under the county's grievance policy, according to a letter she submitted in April. In a letter outlining his decision to fire her Clinard said he lost confidence in Wilson's judgment.

County policy calls for a grievance hearing to be scheduled within 14 working days after an employee files a formal request, which Wilson did April 11. The county agreed to an initial delay at the request of Wilson's attorney. Attorneys for both sides later agreed to postpone the hearing indefinitely while settlement talks continued.
