FARMINGTON -- A man with a gun tried to rob Green Oak Center gasoline station early Monday.

A white male armed with a shotgun on a sling went into the station, 243 W. Main St., about 4 a.m. and demanded money from the register, said Sgt. Mike Wilbanks of the Farmington Police Department.

The employee refused to give him the money. The man left and fled west toward Fayetteville, Wilbanks said. He was driving a half-ton, dark-colored Chevrolet truck, Wilbanks said.

The suspect is a white man, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 170-180 pounds, Wilbanks said. The suspect was dressed in all black, wearing a hooded jacket and had a white bandana covering his face, Wilbanks said.

The Farmington Police Department is investigating the incident. Detectives were able to get photographs of the incident, Wilbanks said.
