Flood repairs will close Arkansas 36

Work to repair damage from a flood will require closing a section of Arkansas 36 in White County to traffic on Wednesday and Thursday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews will be installing a double-cross drain that was damaged during recent flooding on the highway between West Point and Georgetown.

The 12-mile section will be closed from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting. Motorists will be directed to use Jones Island Road as a detour, the department said. About 480 vehicles per day travel on that highway section, according to agency statistics.
