Fayettteville School Board Hires Two Key Administrators

FAYETTEVILLE -- The School Board hired two central office administrators at a special meeting Monday.

Kim Garrett is the associate superintendent for secondary education and will be paid $130,000.

Kathy Hanlon is the chief financial officer and will be paid $140,000.

Superintendent Paul Hewitt said he plans soon to recommend someone to fill the district treasurer's position.

Garrett has been assistant superintendent for teaching and learning for grades eight through 12 in the Springdale School District for a year. Before that, she was principal at Bentonville High School.

She began her new position Wednesday, Hewitt said.

"I'm very excited," Garrett said after the board vote. Asked about specific plans, she responded, "I'm still learning the district."

Hewitt has said Garrett will work closely with John L Colbert, associate superintendent for elementary education, and Kay Jacoby, executive director for curriculum and instruction, to develop a leadership team to focus on curriculum.

Hanlon spent 20 years in the Rogers School District as the chief financial officer. She assumes her position Aug. 4 although she has been working periodically under a personal services contract.

Hanlon has been involved in the search for the district treasurer to replace Logan Lemaster, who resigned in June.

Garrett replaces Ginny Wiseman who retired at the end of June. Hanlon replaces Lisa Morstad who resigned in June.

The School Board will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. July 29 in the Ray Adams Leadership Center, 1000 Bulldog Blvd.
