The Washington County medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death of a bicyclist who died Saturday.

Laura Wooldridge, 39, of Little Rock was competing in a bike race at the Fat Tire Festival in Eureka Springs when she apparently crashed her bike, said Capt. Jason Morris of the Eureka Springs Fire Department.

Witnesses told police that Wooldridge walked out of the woods covered in blood, he said.

"She knew who she was, but she didn't remember the accident," he said.

Wooldridge was airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center, where she died.

It is not yet known whether Wooldridge's death was the result of injuries sustained at the festival or if it was due to another medical issue, said Washington County Coroner Roger Morris.

He said the autopsy would take place today.
