Sebastian County inmate, 39, dies

A 39-year-old female Sebastian County inmate died early Saturday morning.

Investigations into the death of Amanda Potter, 39, are ongoing by the Arkansas State Police and the Sebastian County sheriff's office. The state Crime Laboratory will conduct an autopsy, according to a news release from the Sebastian County sheriff's office.

Potter arrived Friday evening at the Sebastian County Adult Center and was arrested on several warrants, including two for failing to appear in court, according to detention center records.

About 4 a.m. Saturday, Potter, whose last known address was in Van Buren, was found unresponsive, according to the news release. Detention center workers attempted lifesaving procedures before emergency medical workers responded and took Potter to the emergency room at Sparks Hospital.

Potter was pronounced dead at 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the emergency room, according to the news release.
