JACKSON MOSLEY : CAMDEN FAIRVIEW

An injury to his right thumb limited Jackson Mosley’s contributions to the Camden Fairview baseball team this season, but Mosley was always a hit in the classroom.

Mosley was Fairview’s valedictorian, and he earned a few impressive scholarships in the process.

“The thing I’m most proud of is that I made A’s and I never slacked off,” Mosley said. “I managed my time, and I always had the inner drive to do my best when it came to my academics.”

Mosley was the only Fairview student this year to earn three qualifying scores on college board exams for Advanced Placement classes. As a result, he was honored with a monetary award from the Arkansas Advanced Placement Initiative in Math and Science. He was also the recipient of the Arkansas Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship and the Honors College Fellowship at the University of Arkansas.

He plans on earning a degree in biomedical engineering.

“I’ve always been interested in the medical field, but I did not want to just major in biology,” Mosley said. “I took some classes that got me interested in engineering. I don’t want to be limited.”

Mosley said he eventually wants to attend medical school and that becoming either an ophthalmologist or a radiologist is a possibility.

A four-year member of the Fairview baseball team, Mosley started at first base during his junior and senior seasons. He batted approximately .280 for the Cardinals in 2013, but his senior season was marred by an injury.

“I was out for about four weeks with a broken thumb,” Mosley said. “I went to stretch for a ball and I came down on my right hand.”

Mosley was a also a member of the Cardinals’ golf team, where he earned the team’s MVP award.

Outside of the classroom and athletic fields, Mosley also was involved in several clubs, his favorite of which was the Key Club.

“We were involved in a lot of service projects,” Mosley said. “We raised money for [The United Nations Children’s Fund], had a pancake breakfast and started Jeans for Teens, which collected clothes for teens that did not have many clothes. … I was never an officer in Key Club, but I was a working member.”
