United Way of Northwest Arkansas will collect school supplies Friday and Saturday during the Fill the Bus event, formerly known as Stuff the Bus.
Collection points will be set up at Walmart stores in Siloam Springs; Bentonville; Fayetteville on Martin Luther King Boulevard and at the Northwest Arkansas Mall; and Rogers on Pleasant Grove Road and Walnut Street; Huntsville; Springdale; and Jane, Mo.
Hours are 10:30 a.m.-8:30p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.
Making sure children and youth achieve their potential through education is a key focus area of United Way of Northwest Arkansas, according to a news release. United Way Fill the Bus helps to achieve that goal by removing a barrier to school readiness by providing school supplies so kids can start school confident and ready to learn.
This year's event honors Julie Nicole Petree, a United Way employee, who died July 3. Fill the Bus one of Petree's favorite programs, according to the news release. Donations may be made at www.unitedwaynwa.org.
