Bridgit Mendler, Indie Music Night to be onstage

Bridgit Mendler, a young Disney star, will perform at Magic Springs in concert Saturday night.

Kimiko will open the show at 7 p.m.

Mendler, a singer-songwriter, producer and actress, appeared in a 2009 TV film Labor Pains and the same year she landed the role of a recurring character for a Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. She then made her theatrical debut in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel.

She has since starred in the Disney series Good Luck Charlie and a film, Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas, based on the series. She starred in another Disney Channel movie, Lemonade Mouth, in which her character, Olivia, performs several songs, two of which were released as singles that made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2012, she released her debut album, Hello My Name Is ... and the album, which featured the single, "Ready or Not," debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

The 21-year-old has cited Bob Dylan as her primary musical influence.

Opening act Kimiko -- whose full name is Taylor Kimiko Wernecke -- graduated from Lakeside High School in Hot Springs and will graduate this summer from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., with a music business degree. She has listed her favorite musical genres as pop, country, blues, rock and electronic dance.

Admission is $54.99 the day of the concert, $49.99 if bought online; children 3 and younger are admitted free and children shorter than 48 inches are admitted for $33.99, as are adults age 55 and older. Mandy McBryde will open the 9 p.m. show.

Admission is $7.

Saturday, the club will feature Wink Burcham.

Kevin Kerby will open the 10 p.m. show.

Burcham was hailed July 11 by The Oklahoman newspaper as one of the top five performers to see at the 17th annual WoodyFest in Okemah, Okla., saying Burcham represents "The new Tulsa sound."

Kerby is known for his solo works and his stint in Mulehead.

Stephen Neeper & The Wild Hearts will perform Friday night for a show at Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack.

Neeper and his band perform rock 'n' roll music and cite as their influences Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, Wilco, Pearl Jam and Ryan Adams.

The show will open at 9 p.m. with a set by Hibbity Dibbity.

"A Very Feary Brony Burlesque" show will be held at 9 tonight at the Rev Room. The show will celebrate the fans of the My Little Pony show, where male fans are called "Bronys" and female fans are called "Pegasisters."

Opening acts will be Flameing Daeth Fearies, The Machete With Love, Cabaret Kittens, Uno Rhymez and Jennifer Armstrong.

Cover charge is $10.

Friday, the club will hold its monthly electronic dance music gathering, Zodiac: Cancer Edition featuring Dallas DJs Raydar & Shaolin.

Opening acts are Lawler, Platinumb, Ewell and Andy Sadler.

Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $10 (with free admission to the first 30 people whose Zodiac signs are Cancer).

Sunday, Surrender the Fall will be the headliner.

Artifas will open the show at 8 p.m.

Saturday, the club will host Blind Opie, a classic rock cover band, at 9 p.m.

Sunday, John Jordan will perform at the 2 p.m. brunch show. Jordan, a singer/guitarist/pianist, is the director of bands at Hot Springs High School and the choir director for St. John's Catholic Church.
