Woman Found Dead In Motel Room

FAYETTEVILLE -- A 27-year-old Washington County woman was found dead about 3:15 p.m. Sunday at Candlewood Suites, 2270 Martin Luther King Blvd., said Sgt. Craig Stout with the Fayetteville Police Department.

The woman was found slumped over in a bathtub. Cans of compressed gas duster were found in the room.

Stout said the product is commonly used for huffing.

"Basically it deprives your brain of oxygen," Stout said.

Police withheld the woman's identification until next-of-kin can be notified, Stout said. She was alone in the room, Stout said.

Police were called for a welfare check after a motel employee could not get anyone to answer the door.

The incident was under investigation Monday morning, and the body will be sent to the State Crime Lab.

Patricia Sprouse, 30, died about two weeks ago in Fayetteville, and the cause of death was drowning and difluoroethane toxicity from the inhalation of Dust Off, according to the Crime Lab.
