Amateur Radio

The Little Switzerland Amateur Radio Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the physicians building at Mercy Hospital in Berryville. Anyone with an interest in amateur radio is welcome. Refreshments will be available.

The club meets at noon on the second Thursday of the month and at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.

Quilters United

Alice McElwain will speak on the quilts of Edie Idleman at the July 24 meeting of Quilters United in Learning Together.

Idleman, a Bella Vista resident, was a quilt appraiser and collector. Her collection will be the focus of the presentation.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2898 S. 48th St. in Springdale.

Republicans

The Washington County Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the GuestHouse Inn in Fayetteville. The speaker will be Jerry Cox with the Family Council Group.

Lions Club

The Bella Vista Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. Speaker will be Melanie Trull, assistant manager of Bank of the Ozarks Highlands Branch. She will discuss cautions about identity theft and fraud schemes.

The club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month for a dinner buffet at Concordia Retirement Center's main building, 1 Concordia Drive. All guests are welcome to attend. An optional dinner buffet is offered for $9.

The Bella Vista Ladies Bunco Group will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the main building at Concordia Retirement Center. Cost is $9.50, which covers the game and lunch.

Granny's Quilts

The Granny's Quilts of Love will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge, 1300 N. Davis St.

This meeting will be to finalize the plans for a dinner and auction Aug. 23.

Nyte Tyme Quilters

Bella Vista Nyte Tyme Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 21 at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road in, Bella Vista.

This month's program will be Christmas in July, a work meeting featuring holiday projects. There will also be a show and tell to show personal projects completed.

The quilters usually meet the third Monday of every month except November and December. They are a group of new and experienced quilters who meet to share techniques and project ideas. All are welcome.

Book Club

The Bella Vista Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, to discuss "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver.

The Bella Vista Computer Club will host a panel of experts at 7 p.m. Monday to answer technology questions. This public meeting is in the community room of Highlands Crossing Center (lower level), 1801 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista.

The Fleet Reserve Association and Auxiliary will meet at 2:30 p.m. July 20 at the Western Sizzlin' in Springdale.

USS Snook Base

The USS Snook Base of the United States Submarine Veterans is open to all submarine veterans, whether retired or currently on active duty. The base meets at 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at the Texas Land & Cattle Co. restaurant in Rogers.

Sunrise Rotary

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will be selling hamburger and hot dog meals at the Bella Vista Community Band concert Tuesday at Blowing Spring Park. The concert starts at 7 p.m., and food service is from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Cost for the meal is $8. All proceeds go to local charities.

The Sunrise Rotary has a breakfast meeting every Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. at the Concordia Retirement Center main building, 1 Concordia Drive in Bella Vista.

Nature Society

Dolores Stamps, Washington County Master Gardener, will speak on daylilies at the Flower Garden & Nature Society of Northwest Arkansas meeting Saturday. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m., and the program starts at 10 a.m. at the student center at Northwest Technical Institute at 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale. The meeting is free and open to everyone.

Senior Democrats

The Senior Democrats of Northwest Arkansas will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Western Sizzlin' at 3492 Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

The Benton County Republican Women will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Golden Corral at 2605 Pleasant Crossing Drive in Rogers. Special guest will be John Thurston, Arkansas commissioner of state lands.

Christian Women

"Freedom is Not Free" is the theme of the Bentonville-Rogers Christian Women's Club lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the community building at First Assembly of God Church in Bentonville.

Barb Sturdivan, a veteran, will talk about her experiences. Guest speaker will be Laura Silva on "What I Got For Free." The colors will be red, white and blue.

Cost of the lunch is $11. All women are invited.

Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. July 21 for a luncheon at The Egg and I in Rogers. They will carpool from Sugar Creek Center in Bella Vista near the movie theater at 11 a.m.

Bring an amusing story to share with the group. Four choices of entrees will be available.

All former Kansas residents are invited to join the meetings. There are no dues.

Junior Auxiliaries

Crowning Moments Last a Lifetime was the theme at the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries' 73rd annual Education Conference held May 2-3 in Destin, Fla. Members of the Junior Auxiliary of Rogers-Bentonville attending were Sarah Oglesby, president; Leigh Anne Chitmon, second vice president; Kim Lemna, secretary; Heidi Sarratt, treasurer; and Julienne Springer and Tina Winham, life members.

Julienne Springer was appointed by NAJA to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors as the marketing vice president for 2014-15. She is a life member of the Junior Auxiliary of Rogers-Bentonville, where she has served as education chairwoman, chapter president and then ex-officio. She currently chairs the auxiliary's Crown Club, a service club for teen girls. On the national level, she previously served as a member of the Membership Committee.

As a full-time volunteer in her community, Springer has worked with Northwest Arkansas Aquatics as meet director and the volunteer coordinator. Springer serves as vice chair of activities and arrangements for the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas.

The Benton County Democrats will host the monthly luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 28 at the Golden Corral in Rogers, 2605 Pleasant Crossing Drive. The guest speaker will be Karen Garcia, Democratic candidate for Arkansas state treasurer.
