Where I live: I live in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock with my husband, Grady McCoy, and six chickens that I had to get to replace my four children who flew the nest. Fresh eggs are great, by the way. Unlike children, you do not have to pay for them, but they do come home to roost.

Occupation: President of Arkansas Flag and Banner, which I founded in 1975. We are located in red-brick Taborian Hall, which was built in 1916 and also houses the historic Dreamland Ballroom.

My favorite space is: Our front porch.

Why? It is the biggest room in my house. The porch is large, 35 feet by 20 feet, like an outdoor "great room" with two living spaces. On one end is my mother's vintage Heywood-Wakefield couch and chairs for drinking coffee, reading the paper, or entertaining during the cocktail hour. And on the other end is the glass-top and wrought iron dining table and chairs that Grady grew up with. We love dining outside on a warm summer night. Our porch has been a gathering place for our family for more than 20 years.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add outside heaters so we could stay outside year-round. We are lucky to live in Arkansas where the weather is pretty mild -- except last winter, when God thought Arkansas was Alaska.
