Military car show set for LR museum

The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History will host its second annual vintage military vehicle show July 26.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., military vehicles from World War I through Desert Storm will be on display in front of the museum at 503 E. Ninth St. in Little Rock. The showcase will include a 1915 Dodge Brothers touring car used by Gen. John Pershing in 1916 as he tried to capture Pancho Villa in Mexico.

Those wishing to showcase a vintage military vehicle may register on the museum's website, www.arkmilitaryheritage.com.

To commemorate the centennial of the start of World War I, this year's show also will feature a 1 p.m. program on Camp Pike by Brian Irby, archival assistant at the Arkansas History Commission. Camp Pike was constructed in 1917 and served as a training facility during World War I, as well as the headquarters of the Arkansas National Guard.

All events are free, and food trucks will be on site selling refreshments, a news release states.
