Hawgs Illustrated publisher Clay Henry and the late baseball star Dizzy Dean will be inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame today in Conway.

The announcement was made in April by the Arkansas Sports Club. The selection was based on a vote among members of the Arkansas media and the Arkansas Sports Club. Dean received 20.9 percent of the vote. Henry received 27.9 percent. This is the eighth year for the Hall of Fame inductions.

Previous inductees are Orville Henry and Paul Eells in 2007, Jim Bailey and Bud Campbell in 2008; Harry King and Jim Elder in 2009; Jerry McConnell and Pat Summerall in 2010; Wadie Moore and Frank Broyles in 2011; David McCollum and Mike Harrison in 2012; and Joe Mosby and Steve Sullivan in 2013.

"Nothing can be as humbling as this, inclusion with those who mentored you," Henry said. "I could never dream that I would be mentioned in the same sentence with my father or any of these great men."

Dean, a Hall of Fame pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Sports Hall of Famer, was the lead baseball broadcaster for CBS' "Game of the Week."

Henry, a former sports editor of the Log Cabin Democrat, has also worked for the Tulsa World before he took over the Razorback insider publication, an NWA Media publication.

Also to be recognized at the banquet will be former Razorback star Clyde Scott, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I was honored to accept this same award on behalf of my father in 2007 when this Hall of Fame began," Henry said. "It was easy to stand in front of the crowd and talk about him. But I'm not sure how to do it this time. I was taught by my father that you are never the story, that the reason people are interested in what you have to say is because you cover the Razorbacks. I will have to break his rule for 10 minutes Saturday night.

"There have been great people around me -- starting with my wife Jean Ann and daughters Sarah and Becca -- to make me look good. It's been my good fortune to work with gifted and solid people in this profession -- like Dudley Dawson and Brad Dunn at Hawgs Illustrated, Chuck Barrett and Bo Mattingly on talk radio and a huge cast of talented photographers and graphic designers at Stephens Media and NWA Media."
