Marx named assistant at Campbell

Former UALR interim head coach Chris Marx has been named an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Campbell University, a Big South Conference member in Buies Creek, N.C.

Marx joins the Camels’ staff after spending the past three seasons as a UALR assistant coach, and he was interim coach for four weeks between the announcement of Scott Norwood’s resignation June 9 and the hiring of Chris Curry on July 1.

“Chris did a great job for us,” UALR Athletic Director Chris Peterson said in a statement. “Campbell University is getting an outstanding young assistant coach that we believe will done day make a great coach.”

Marx, who played at Ouachita Baptist, spent his first two seasons as hitting coach for the Trojans before working with pitchers this season. He was named UALR’s interim coach when Norwood resigned last month amid allegations of verbal abuse of players and NCAA rules violations.

Marx was accused by an anonymous source of violations as well. UALR has hired a private firm to investigate the allegations.
