Missouri State University in Springfield conferred 2,381 degrees to students during its three spring commencement ceremonies May 16 at John Q. Hammons Arena.

A total of 1,784 bachelor's degrees, 553 master's degrees, four specialist degrees and 40 doctorate degrees were conferred. Local students include:

Hillary D. Boyd, Springdale, physical therapy; Brooke E. Parsley, Springdale,criminology, Cum Laude; DeAnna N. Stevenson, Springdale, athletic training; Mallory L. Butler, Berryville, finance, Summa Cum Laude in the Honors College; Cody A. Baker, Rogers, biology, Magna Cum Laude; Agustin O. Herrera, Rogers, management/international business; Taylor J. Homeyer, Centerton, psychology, communication/Interpersonal communication, Cum Laude in the Honors College; Hayley G. Hoover, Centerton, marketing/marketing management; Katie M. Brown, Bentonville, English; and John C. Overstreet, Bentonville, fashion merchandising & design/fashion.

Local students were also named to the University's Dean's list. For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Springdale: Jessica E. Lopez, Brooke E. Parsley and Kimberly M. Tate.

Justin Rafiee of Fayetteville was among a record number of graduates presented with diplomas at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell's 2014 commencement exercises May 17 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Ma.

Mary Scriber of Bentonville has been named to the 2014 spring Dean's List at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be full-time and have achieved a minimum 3.6 semester and cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Samantha Gocke of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2014 Dean's List at Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Ga. Goche is a sophomore majoring in biology. To qualify for the list, students must acheive a GPA of 3.6 or higher.

John Brunner of Rogers has been named a member of Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honor Society at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. Brunner is the son of John and Kimberly Brunner and a graduate of Bentonville High School.

Garrett Harper of Springdale has been named to the spring honor roll with high distinction at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. To be listed on the SMU honor roll with high distinction, students must be in the top 5 percent of their school of record. SMU's Spring 2014 enrollment included 10,614 students.

Jack Kitchingham of Lowell graduated from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg May 10 with a bachelor of science degree. More than 1,000 students met their graduation requirements and were eligible to participate in the ceremonies.

Tearris Wallace of Centerton was named to the Dean's List at the University of Memphis for the spring 2014 semester. The Dean's List is composed of students who have earned 12 or more hours in either the fall or spring semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

Rhonda Bertrand of Farmington has been named to the spring Honors List at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Students with a grade point average between 3.65 and 3.99 are named to the Honors List.

Berrey Becton of Fayetteville was named to 2014 spring Dean's List at Fort Lewis College in Durnago, Colo. To be eligible for Dean's List, a student must carry a semester grade point average of 3.6 or better in no fewer than 15 credit hours of graded college level work and have completed all work for which they are registered by the end of the semester. Becton's major is adventure education.

Holyn Marshall of Bentonville has achieved a place on the Dean's List for academic achievements during the spring semester 2014 at University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind. To make the Dean's List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Marshall is majoring in business.
