BASEBALL: Rogers Optimist Club Stays Alive In Zone Tournament

Braden Mabry's RBI-double snapped a seventh-inning tie and lifted the Rogers Optimist Club to a 6-5 win over Conway in the Zone 3 Junior American Legion baseball tournament on Sunday.

The win sends Rogers (11-11) to an elimination game against North Little Rock at 6 p.m. tonight.

Mabry finished with two hits and two RBIs in support Rogers starter and winner Evan Dobler. He allowed five runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out four and walking one in seven innings of work.

Dobler and Jacob Ivey also chipped in two hits for the Rogers offense.

The Optimists fell 5-3 to North Little Rock in its tournament opener on Saturday. Rogers had runners on second and third in the seventh with one out, but Braden Mabry struck out and Max Horton popped out to short to end the game.

Derek Sallee went 3-for-4 with a double and Billy Treacy went 2-for-4 to lead the Rogers offense. Sallee took the loss on the mound, allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits over six innings. He struck out two and walked two.
