B&B Drywall triumphs in conference division

B&B Drywall of Kansas City won the 35th annual Busch/Pepsi Classic Sunday at the Sherwood Sports Complex in Sherwood.

B&B Drywall defeated ASP Nation of Dallas 21-15 in the Men's Conference Division to wrap up the tournament with an undefeated record, outscoring its opponents 128-73. They opened the tournament with a 29-7 victory over Wrecking Crew from Hope, before beating last year's champion Fence Brokers 28-21, J&R Logistics 32-17 from Fort Smith and Aftershock 18-3 before beating ASP Nation in the final.

"This is a good tournament and there are a lot of great teams," said B&B Drywall Coach Bob O'Neal. "Offensively and defensively, it took both to win it and we were able to keep opposing scores down."

Middle infielder Jason Trammell of B&B Drywall was named Tournament MVP after going 17 for 24 at the plate over the weekend with five home runs.

"Defensively, he's tops in the country and plays as hard as he can," O'Neal said. "Offensively, he's been hitting .750 in every tournament."

CLASS C

Aftershock 16, J&R Logistics 12

Batesville's Aftershock pulled off a first-time feat, finishing third in the Conference Division, when it lost to B&B Drywall and ASPNation, and winning the single elimination Class C Division by beating J&R Logistics.

Aftershock's Roger Glaude won named Tournament MVP.

J&R Logistics is coached by Ronnie Moore, who was inducted into the Arkansas Softball Hall of Fame Friday night.

CLASS D

Rampage 10, Kirby-Whitten/901 Sports 8

Rampage won an all-Memphis final by going undefeated to win Class D. Roger Buchenroth of Rampage was named MVP for Class D.

The highest-finishing Arkansas team in Class D was Arkansas Swag from Russellville, which finished fourth.

CLASS E

DSA 5, McBride 3

DSA from Fort Smith defeated Bentonville based McBride for the Class E Final going undefeated to win the title. B.J. Lawson of DSA was named Most Valuable Player.

WOMEN'S DIVISION

Bryant Express 7, Lo Bob's 4

After losing 7-6, Bryant Express came back in the if-necessary game to win the Women's championship game.

Candice Hardcastle, who was inducted into the Arkansas Softball Hall of Fame Friday night, was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Her husband Jeff Hardcastle, who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, is the coach of the Bryant Express.
