Self Portrait

Russ Melton

• DATE AND PLACE OF BIRTH: Aug. 24, 1957, Malvern

• FAMILY Wife, Susan Marie, and children Russell "Scott" Melton Jr., John Melton and Nicole Melton

• WHAT'S ALWAYS IN MY REFRIGERATOR? I have a two-tap keg box at home and almost always have pale ale as one of the choices.

• MY FIRST JOB was working for my uncle, Troy Nutt, on a brick crew. I thought I was going to help for a day but was asked to come back for the rest of the summer, and then the next three summers.

• MY FIRST DRINK was in Fort Sill, Okla. I was on an ROTC trip there, and the legal drinking age was 19, I think. So I had a couple beers in the cantina with the group.

• MY GREATEST STRENGTH IS my persistence and honesty.

• MY WORST? Impatience, but I try to work on it.

• MY PET PEEVE ABOUT SOCIETY: I am most offended by dishonesty.

• I'D LIKE TO HAVE A BEER WITH Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill

• MY NEXT BIG PURCHASE: Nothing in mind, but would like a boat to travel on the Arkansas River. It seems to be calling out to me.

• MY BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN LIFE: Other than my faith, which is always first, would be my parents. They really instilled in me a sense of right and wrong coupled with a very strong work ethic.

• TWO WORDS TO SUM ME UP: Purpose-driven
