Suspect arrested in Harrison killing

A suspect in the Thursday slaying of a 75-year-old woman in Bear Creek Springs was taken into custody Friday by the Boone County sheriff's office.

Deputies in the unincorporated community north of Harrison found the body of Adah Lorraine Carte about 7 p.m. Thursday at Ozark Emporium, 3873 Naples Road. Carte was the owner of the antiques and gift shop.

Arkansas State Police did not release a name of the suspect, who was reportedly recorded by surveillance cameras in the store.

The killer was described as a white male between 5 feet 7 inches tall and 5 feet 11 inches tall who weighs between 200 and 230 pounds and has gray hair. He wore glasses, a Hawaiian print T-shirt, knee-length shorts, tennis shoes and a baseball hat with the Batman logo.

The killer left Ozark Emporium in a dark green Ford conversion van with light green accents and stripes, according to state police.

Further details on the slaying were not released.
