NLR pastor to run for School Board

Patrick Lander filed Thursday in the Pulaski County clerk's office as a candidate for election Sept. 16 to the Zone 5 position on the North Little Rock School Board.

Lander, 29, is the second person to file for the position representing the north-central part of the city.

Incumbent board member Scott Teague, a North Little Rock banker, filed earlier this week for re-election.

School board terms are for three years. The positions are unpaid.

A pastor at First Assembly of God Church of North Little Rock, Lander attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University at Waxahachie, Texas.

Most recently, Lander served as a member of a district-appointed citizens' committee that worked with a consulting company to recommend a new elementary school attendance zone plan to the North Little Rock School Board. That plan was adopted by the board and will go into effect in the 2015-16 school year.
