JPs asked to back Dassault incentive

The Quorum Court will hear a proposal Tuesday asking justices of the peace to endorse Dassault Falcon Jet Corp.'s participation in a state tax-incentive program for a $60 million expansion.

The expansion includes new construction but no additional jobs, according to the company's application.

Dassault Falcon Jet, a Little Rock company, employs 1,700 people at an average hourly wage of $20, the application said.

2 awaiting word on planning positions

Two appointments to the county Planning Board will go before the Quorum Court on Tuesday.

W.H. Rath, 85, formerly worked in operations and project management for AFCO Metals from 1978 until 2004, when he retired.

Mark Wilson, 38, is a business development officer at First Arkansas Bank & Trust in Jacksonville and currently serves on the Pulaski Technical College Foundation and Little Rock Air Force Base Community Council.

The Quorum Court must confirm County Judge Buddy Villines' appointments to the planning board.

New cell, 5 air units on sheriff's wish list

The sheriff's office plans to use $16,000 in Act 1188 funds to build a new holding cell at the courthouse for county prisoners; $65,000 in Act 1188 funds for five new air units at the jail; and $20,000 in federal drug seizure money to build a portable building to house a firearms simulator.

Act 1188 levies a $5 court fine on misdemeanor and traffic defendants who aren't acquitted.

The expenditures go before the Quorum Court on Tuesday.

OK sought to add sanitation billing

Maumelle Water Corp. and the county sanitation department have asked the county judge to approve an agreement to include billing for sanitation in their monthly statements for a $1.50 fee per customer per billing cycle.

Authorization to enter the agreement goes before the Quorum Court on Tuesday for approval. According to the agenda item, "The Sanitation Department believes this method of billing will be more convenient to customers paying their sanitation bills."

The combining of fees on the bill could affect a customer's service if the fees aren't paid.. The agreement states that unpaid sanitation fees will result in water being shut off until delinquencies are paid.
