UAFS appoints Hale as provost

Georgia Hale is the new provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, it was announced Wednesday.

Hale began working at UA-Fort Smith in 2004 when she was hired as associate dean of the College of Business, according to a news release. She became dean of the university’s College of Applied Science and Technology in 2009 and was named associate provost in December, the news release said.

As provost, Hale will oversee six colleges and supervise the International Relations Office, Center for Lifelong Learning and Babb Center for Student and Professional Development. She will also be in charge of spearheading creation of new curriculum and programs.

Hale replaces Ray Wallace, who left UAFS to become chancellor at Indiana University Southeast. Hale’s appointment began Tuesday, according to the news release.
