Bomb Threat Causes Evacuation At Fayetteville Walmart

Thursday, July 3, 2014

FAYETTEVILLE -- Police were called to Walmart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 4 a.m. Wednesday after a bomb threat was found written on a bathroom wall, Sgt. Craig Stout said.

An employee called police to report the threat. Stout said it was a public restroom but used mostly by employees. He said he didn't know the exact wording of the threat but the message indicated a specific time a bomb would detonate.

The store manager evacuated the building. There were no more than a handful of customers in the store, said Betsy Harden, a Walmart spokesman. The store opened about 5 a.m., she said.

The investigation is continuing.
