Cast Masters Preseason Meeting Scheduled

The Cast Masters bass tournament circuit will hold a preseason meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at Jim’s Razorback Pizza, 1528 W.

Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

The 2014 schedule will be discussed and anglers may voice concerns and opinions about the season.

Audubon Sets Birding Trips

Bald eagles will be the featured bird during a Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society field trip to Swepco Lake at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Waterfowl and other water birds may be sighted.

Meet at the Eagle Watch Nature Trail parking lot two miles west of Gentry on Arkansas 12. A short, easy walk on the trail leads to a wildlife viewing deck where bald eagles are routinely seen.

Terry Stanfill, caretaker of thetrail, and Joe Neal will lead the trip.

A field trip to view American woodcocks will be at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 15. Meet at the Wedington small game area of the Ozark National Forest 16 miles west of Fayetteville on Kinchloe Road.

Guys, Gals To Talk Tournaments

The Beaver Lake Guys and Gals bass club will hold a preseason meeting at 6 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Jim’s Razorback Pizza, 1528 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

Team Wins Championship

James Whittle and Alan Westfall won the Hook, Lineand Sinker championship bass tournament on Saturday at Swepco Lake near Gentry.

They had five bass that weighed 15.83 pounds.

Trent Schurman and Dayton Schurman were second with five bass at 13.56 pounds.

Jesse Crews and Clint Williams placed third with five bass at 12.58 pounds.

Jeremy Brewer and Tyler Greenhall had big bass at 5.87 pounds.

Most fish were caught on soft plastics, with a few on top-water.

Missouri Deer Season Done

Deer hunters in Missouri bagged a total of 250,787 deer for all hunting methods combined during the 2013-2014 season. The harvest is lower than the 10-year average of 293,9056 deer.

Archery hunting closed in Missouri on Jan. 15 to end the deer season. Bowhunters killed 50,507 deer in Missouri.
