Bentonville Library Has Teen Dating Awareness Workshop

— The public library will hold a Dating Awareness Safety workshop at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday where teens will hear from professionals about warning signs of unsafe relationships.

“February is ‘Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month,’ a national event focused on educating teens and adults about being aware of dating violence,” said Sarah Gowdy, teen services librarian. “The goal of the national month, as well as what we are doing here at BPL, is to educate teens about the warning signs of dating violence in addition to teaching teens about healthy relationships with the hope of ending the cycle of abuse.”

Dawn Spragg with the Teen Action Support Center will speak about safe dating in the 21st century, according to a news release.

This program, for teens in seventh through 12th grades, is part of the library’s Teen Life Skills workshops where teens can learn a variety of topics to help prepare for life after high school,.

Those interested in attending should register at www.bentonvillelibrary.org. Questions can be directed to Gowdy at 479-273-7755 or [email protected]. The library is at 405 S. Main St.
