Rogers Student Concert Slated Monday

ROGERS — A a free concert of the Rogers High School orchestra, band and show choir and Heritage High School orchestra will be held at 7 p.m., Monday at Rogers High School, 2300 S. Dixieland Road.

Music Appreciation in Rogers Schools holds an annual concert for district fourth-graders to educate them in musical offerings in higher grades. That concert will be held Tuesday morning.

Monday’s concert is a special performance added for family members, middle school students involved in band, choir or orchestra and fifth-graders who will able to sign up for middle school music classes in March, said Jerry Lane, Rogers orchestra director.

Musical selections include:

‘The Egmont Overture” by Ludwig Von Beethoven; “Dance of the Tumblers” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; “Jupiter from The Planets” by Gustav Holst; “Symphony No. 4, 3rd movement” by Johannes Brahms; “Orpheus in the Underworld (Can Can)” by Jacques Offenbach; “The Pink Panther” by Henry Mancini, and “Pirates of the Caribbean” by Klaus Badelt.

The Rogers High School Show Choir will be directed by Judy Meek. Rogers High School band director Bill Rowan will co-conduct the symphonic orchestra. Heritage orchestra students of Greta Lane will join the program.
