Mayor Announces Outstanding Bentonville Citizen Winners

BENTONVILLE — Caroline Fox, Drew Collom and Friends of the Bentonville Library are the recipients of the fourth quarter Outstanding Citizen Award, Mayor Bob McCaslin announced in a news release.

Fox, a Bentonville High School senior with a 4.0 grade-point average, was nominated by Amanda Musick. Fox is involved in Health Occupation Students of America, Distributive Education Clubs of America, National Honors Society, Tiger Jungle and Cobblestone Club.

Collom, a Boys & Girls Club board member, was nominated by Sabrina Rampy, director of community relations at the club. Collom has been a board member for eight years and has served as its president. He’s also a member and former chairman of the Cancer Challenge. He volunteers Saturday mornings at the food pantry at the First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville where he also serves on the session. He will also serve as a celebrity waiter at Amazeum’s “Dancing with the Stars” event, according to the release.

Friends of the Bentonville Library was nominated by Hadi Dudley, library director. The group celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2012. In recent years, its sponsorship programs have raised $30,000 for the library’s special collections, $19,000 for teen services, $18,000 for the summer reading program, $10,000 for the new facility campaign and $5,500 for laptops. The group also has co-sponsored travel and training expenses for librarians and established a scholarship program for staff working toward a graduate degree in library science.
