Grist Mills Topic of Hobbs Program

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Early grist mills in the Ozarks were a more than a place to grind corn and wheat for flour. They were spots for the public to come on the weekends to see friends, talk and barter, according to a news release.

Susan Young, outreach coordinator at Shiloh Museum, will present a program on Ozark grist mills and their role in the community at 2 p.m. today at Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area Visitor Center. Admission to the program — part of the Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series — is free.

The Visitor Center is just east of the intersection of Arkansas 12 and War Eagle Road.
