Justin Bieber was released from a Florida jail Thursday after his arrest on charges of driving under the influence, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest. Bieber, 19, was arrested after police said they saw him heading down a Miami Beach residential street in a yellow Lamborghini at twice the speed limit. Officers said he had an expired license, was initially not cooperative when he was pulled over and smelled of alcohol. Police said Bieber later admitted that he had been drinking, smoking marijuana and taking prescription medication. R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff was arrested in the same incident. He is charged with driving under the influence. Police said Sharieff was driving a Ferrari. Bieber and Sharieff, wearing bright red jail fatigues, made their initial court appearance via a video link from jail. They remained silent while defense attorney Roy Black negotiated bail. Bieber’s bail was set at $2,500. Sharieff’s bail was set at $1,000. Authorities said Bieber was arrested after police saw him and Sharieff racing two luxury vehicles down the street at 4:09 a.m., with two other vehicles apparently being used to block off the area. Police say Bieber was clocked at 55 mph to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Neil Patrick Harris is everything Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals wants in its man of the year. He’s an award-winning actor of stage, television and film, a singer and dancer, a repeat host of both the Emmy and Tony awards, and a magician. On Thursday, Harris was named the collegiate acting troupe’s man of the year for his “lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.” “With his enviable reputation as a host and showman, we look forward to hosting Mr. Harris for an entertaining and unforgettable evening to recognize his achievements,” Hasty Pudding President Tony Oblen said. Hasty Pudding Theatricals is the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe, dating to the late 18th century. Harris will be given his pudding pot after a parade through Harvard Square and a roast scheduled for Feb. 7. “I assume this is for that pudding wrestling competition I won last April … right?” Harris said in a statement.“It was dark and seemed quite seedy at the time - I’m stoked that it’s connected with Harvard. Fancy! Can’t wait.” Last week, Helen Mirren was named Hasty Pudding woman of the year.
