Man Pleads Guilty To Machete Robbery

— A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to helping rob a taxi driver last summer.

Marcos Alverez-Guzman pleaded guilty to robbery in Washington County Circuit Court.

Guzman was sentenced to 20 years at the Arkansas Department of Correction with three years suspended. He was given credit for 126 days jail time served.

Guzman, 17, was charged as an adult in the case.

Javaughntaiye Willis, 21, is also charged in connection with the case. Willis is awaiting trial on felony aggravated robbery and terroristic threatening charges.

Willis held a machete to the taxi driver’s throat and robbed him July 19 on Betty Jo Drive, according to a police report.

Guzman went through the driver’s car looking for items to steal while Willis restrained the man, according to the report.

Woman Sent Naked Pictures To Boy

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to sending naked photographs of herself to a 14-year-old boy.

Taasha L. Yoakum, 21, pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to sexual indecency with a child.

Yoakum was sentenced to six years probation, fined $1,000, ordered to register as a sex offender and complete counseling.

Yoakum was given credit for seven days jail time served.

Police said the pictures were discovered when Yoakum left her computer on and a roommate saw the photos.
