University of Oklahoma: No evidence of shots fired

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

The University of Oklahoma in Norman was on a brief lockdown late Wednesday morning after a shooting was reported in one of its buildings, according to tweets from the university.

The university's official Twitter account @UofOklahoma tweeted around 11:30 a.m. "Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place."

About half an hour later, the Associated Press reported that local police have found no independent confirmation of a shooting but have sent up to a half-dozen officers to the campus, which is about 20 miles south of Oklahoma City.

University spokeswoman Catherine Bishop says in a statement that normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall, where additional checking is continuing Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
