Todd A. Nelson, a 35-year veteran of the newspaper business and most recently the publisher of the Decatur Herald Review in Illinois, has been named president of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers Inc. — the media company created from 2009's merger of Stephens Media LLC and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Nelson replaces Jeff Jeffus, who became president of WEHCO Newspapers in November. The announcement was made in the office of the Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville Tuesday morning.

The Northwest Arkansas edition of the Democrat-Gazette focuses on regional coverage in its Northwest Arkansas section while the area's smaller dailies cover local news in each city. The Morning News is circulated in Springdale and Rogers, the Times is delivered in Fayetteville and the Benton County Daily Record is the newspaper of record in Bentonville. All are wrapped around the daily Democrat-Gazette.
