Bomb Threat Prompts Additional Security Today At Fayetteville High School

— Increased security will be present at Fayetteville High School today after a student reported seeing a bomb threat written on a bathroom wall Monday afternoon.

Alan Wilbourn, the district public information director, said the unidentified student found the words “Ima bomb the school tomorrow” written in a stall in a girls’ bathroom in a new section of the high school. It was reported to administrators about 1:30 p.m., according to an email message that was sent to parents Monday evening.

Police and fire department were informed and school resource officers reviewed video from a camera located outside the restroom.

In the email message, Principal Steve Jacoby said, “We take all threats seriously, and we will have increased security on campus tomorrow. The security of our students is always our top priority, and, as custodians of your student, we wanted to inform you of our findings.”

Wilbourn said there was no immediate way to know when the message was written on the wall.

Parents also were notified by a telephone messaging system that leaves messages for the parents of all students at the high school. The high school has an enrollment of about 1,800 students.
