FAYETTEVILLE — About 40 students have stayed away from Fayetteville High School today because of a bomb threat found Monday in a bathroom at the school, officials report.

“It’s a normal school day,” said Alan Wilbourn, public information officer for the district.

Principal Steve Jacoby added that teachers and students were moving through the day as usual in spite of the added police presence.

The message “Ima bomb school tomorrow” was written on a stall in a girl’s bathroom in a new section of the high school. It was reported to administrators Monday afternoon.

It was not known when the message was written. Some school officials said it could have been there several days, not noticed by students or cleaning staff.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident although police are reviewing a videotape from a security camera posted across from the bathroom entrance. Police were reviewing footage to see who came and went from the bathroom on Monday.

Police did arrest a teenage boy at the school in connection with a missed court day, Jacoby.
