100 YEARS AGO Jan. 19, 1914 MALVERN — A man in Malvern, last week, who was peddling county rights on a patent for catching hogs and cattle, showed what he claimed was a report of the state assay office that a sample of sand he has sent in ran $200 to the ton in gold. He said that the sand around Malvern was full of gold, and asserted that he had obtained a spoonful from three pounds of sand.
