Underground hosts community potluck

The Fayetteville Underground’s appreciation brunch potluck will be at 12:30 p.m.

today at the Fayetteville Underground. Participants may bring a dish to share. This is just an informal meet and greet between the board, artists and volunteers. Beer, wine and some food will be provided.

Tommy and Jennifer Rollins, owners of the mobile concession trailer Kind Kitchen, will be the first guest speakers in the Leaders of Bentonville series at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bentonville Public Library.

Teens will learn how local entrepreneurs began working in their field of choice. Those interested in attending the workshop are encouraged to sign up. The program is for teenagers in seventh through 12th grades.

Technology classes

set in Bentonville

Bentonville Public Library will offer several computer and technology classes in the coming weeks.

The “Help! I’ve Got Technology and I Don’t Know How to Use It!” class is ideal for anyone who has an eReader, tablet or other technology and needs some help learning how to use it. This drop-in class will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The “Social Media” class will go over the basics of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and others. This class will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 18 and from 3 to 4 p.m. March 20.

“Windows 8 Overview” will be an overview of Windows’ latest operating system. This class will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 4 and March 6.

Architect speaks at Vol Walker Hall

Brad Cloepfil will present a lecture titled “Occupation” at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture lecture series.

Cloepfil is founding principal and lead designer at Allied Works Architecture, with offices in Portland, Ore., and in New York City.

This is the Martha Dellinger Memorial Lecture, sponsored by Jim and Sharon Parker. The public is invited to attend this lecture. Admission is free, with limited seating.

Crazy Canasta games canceled

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 341 will no longer be hosting Crazy Canasta games on the first Thursday of the month.

There will be no cards in February.

MLK Events begin Monday

A series of events will honor the late Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Sponsors of the events include the local Martin Luther King Jr. Community Association and the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

Breakfast, which begins at 7:30 a.m. Monday in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center at UAFS, is free and open to the public. Morning activities include educational sessions and a symbolic march. A brief ceremony will be held at the tower. Information: (479) 788-7006.

An ecumenical prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 4916 High St.

“LinkedIn for the Small Business” will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fayetteville Public Library. The event is sponsored by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, Walton College.

Community group designed for vets

Interact Community Discussion Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St.

Thomas Episcopal Church, 2898 S. 48th St. in Springdale.

The group is for spouses, significant others and families of combat veterans who are dealing with adjustment issues.
