GREENWOOD - Little Rock Hall turned up the pressure after halftime and never looked back in a 63-39 victory over Greenwood on Friday night at H.B. Stewart Bulldog Arena.

The Bulldogs kept it close, trailing 25-15 at halftime, but the Warriors used a 28-point third quarter to take a 53-27 lead and command of the game.

“Anytime you can hold serve on the road in our conference, that is very important to us,” Little Rock Hall Coach Jon Coleman said. “We wanted to play a fast tempo, and we were able to do that and it helped us a great deal.”

The Warriors (11-3, 3-0 7A/6A-Central) were led by Kaylon Tappin’s team-high 14 points but used a balanced offense to pull away.

Anthony Black added 12 points, Gregg Easter had 11 and Eric Daily and Robert Verges scored eight each.

“In order to have a championship-type chemistry, we have to share the ball,” Coleman said. “They did a good job of that, and our point guards did a good job driving for others.”

Hall used its defense to create opportunities for fast-break points to put away Greenwood (5-8, 1-2) in the third quarter.

“We wanted to pick the pace of the game up,” Coleman said. “I think our bench is a little bit deeper than theirs, so we wanted to get to that.”

Ryan Davis scored a team-high 15 points for Greenwood.

“At times, I think we did a good job attacking their pressure and scoring an easy bucket,” Greenwood Coach Brian Martin said. “But that pressure kind of snowballed a little bit.”
