CORRECTIONS

As a matter of policy, the Benton County Daily Record will publish corrections of errors in fact that have been printed in the newspaper.

The corrections will be made as soon as possible after the error has been brought to the attention of the editor at 271-3724.

The Thursday Night Theology program at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, led by local theologian Spencer Allen, begins at 7 p.m. The day of the week for the lecture series was incorrect in a photo caption in Saturday’s religion section.

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic. The languages were incorrectly listed in a religion story Saturday.

King Sennacherib of Assyria besieged Jerusalem in 701 B.C. and his account is given in the Rassam Prism Inscription. It does not confirm the biblical account of King Hezekiah of Judah, as the story incorrectly reported. The date of the siege was also reported incorrectly.

A walking, talking cross is part of an account in the Gospel of Peter, an ancient text not included in the Bible. Reference to a shape-shifting Jesus is found in a newly translated Egyptian text, according to Allen. That reference also does not appear in the Bible.

Also, the listing of the degrees Allen holds was misleading. He holds a doctorate in Hebrew Bible from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s of theological studies from Harvard Divinity School.
