Highfill Forum Set On Ambulance Issue

— The second in a series of town hall meetings on Benton County’s proposal to fund rural ambulance service is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Highfill City Hall, 15036 W. Highway 12.

Susan Anglin, justice of the peace for District 9, will host the meeting.

The county has agreed to pay seven municipal fire departments providing rural ambulance service about $942,000 for 2014. The money would ensure the service is available, but not pay the cost of patient care.

The Quorum Court in September created an emergency medical services district with an $85 annual fee to be levied on households in the district. The district covers all of unincorporated Benton County except for the area served by the Northeast Benton County Fire Department’s ambulance service, which has its own district.
