Fayetteville Officer To Appeal Termination

— Cpl. David Nguyen will appeal his termination from the Police Department next month.

The Civil Service Commission met Tuesday and set a hearing for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 11 at the City Administration Building, 113 W. Mountain St.

Police Chief Greg Tabor said he won’t comment on the circumstances surrounding Nguyen’s termination pending his appeal.

Nguyen’s attorney, Drew Miller of Rogers, said he won’t comment on the case either.

The Civil Service Commission is responsible for examining and establishing eligibility for appointments and promotions. The panel, which is made up of seven city residents, also acts upon appeals from employees and disciplinary action by the mayor, police and fire chiefs.

Police Sgt. Craig Stout said Nguyen has been a police officer with the department since May 23, 2005.
