Fayetteville officer appeals termination

Fayetteville Cpl. David Nguyen is appealing his termination from the Fayetteville Police Department.

The Civil Service Commission met today and set a hearing date for Feb. 11 at 8:30 a.m. in the city hall chambers of the City Administration Building, 113 W. Mountain St. The reason for his termination has not been released.

The Civil Service Commission is responsible for examining and establishing eligibility list for appointments and promotions. The panel, which is made up of seven Fayetteville residents, also acts upon appeals and disciplinary action taken by the police and fire chiefs and the mayor.
