There Grisham Goes Yet Again

Monday, January 13, 2014

While it is no surprise to find another piece from Rev. Lowell Grisham (Dec.

29) wherein he attacks his political enemy, the Republican Party, it is incongruous that it appears on the fifth day of Christmas. This is the day we receive five golden rings from our true love. The meaning of this is that our true love is God and the five golden rings are the Torah, the first five books of the Bible where we learn that He created us to be a light to the world.

Rev. Grisham recalls much about Christmas that he learned from the movies. Yet there are more important things one can learn and remember about this holy day that we would rather hear a priest tell us about, such as words from a carol: “Peace on earth, goodwill to men, from heaven’s all-gracious King.”

Since Rev. Grisham chooses to dwell on politics, I would say to him as Ronald Reagan said to Jimmy Carter: “There you go again.”
