FOOTBALL Bielema headlines coaching clinic

The fifth annual Ronnie Roach Football Clinic is Feb. 7-9 at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa in Hot Springs.

Among the coaches scheduled to speak are Bret Bielema of Arkansas, Blake Anderson of Arkansas State, Steve Campbell of Central Arkansas and Barry Lunney of Bentonville.

The clinic fee is $75, which includes admission, special gifts and a 2014 membership in the Arkansas Football Coaches Association.

The clinic is sponsored by the ARFCA and BSN Sports.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING Bryant holds certification clinic

Bryant High School will host a Bigger, Faster, Stronger clinic from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the school’s field house.

The clinic is to certify coaches in the BFS program, which is designed to improve athletic performance and increase safety for young athletes. Jim Brown, former head football coach at Morrilton, will run the clinic.

The clinic fee is $299 per coach.

BOXING Region 6 Silver Gloves this weekend

The Region 6 Silver Gloves Championship will be held Thursday-Saturday at the North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow.

The tournament will feature state champions from Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The champions will advance to the Silver Gloves National Tournament that will be held Jan. 29-Feb. 1. in Independence, Mo.

Bouts begin at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday.
