The state Highway and Transportation Department is asking Arkansans for their opinion about officials' plans to widen U.S. 62 in Carroll County.

The department plans to expand U.S. 62 into five lanes. Construction work will extend about 4 miles west of County Road 914, which is west of Alpena.

Department officials said the public meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Alpena City Hall, 107 U.S. 62 East.

Displays about the construction work will be available at the meeting, and the public can ask questions and offer their comments about the proposed expansion.
