Decatur Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Two Children

BENTONVILLE — A former Gravette volunteer firefighter faces state charges along with a federal case in connection with possessing child pornography.

Glenn Baughman, 23, of Decatur was booked into the Benton County Jail on Wednesday in connection with rape and sexual assault in the second degree.

He pleaded guilty in October in federal court to using, persuading, enticing and coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct and that visual depiction was produced using materials that had been mailed, shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.

Baughman was being held in the Washington County Jail in connection with the federal case.

Baughman, as part of a plea agreement, acknowledged during the October hearing in federal court the pulled down the underwear of a sleeping 7-year-old boy and then touched the child. Baughman hasn't been sentenced in the federal case.

Doug Estes, a special agent with the Arkansas State Police, logged on to a peer-to-peer network in February and downloaded 2,747 images and video files of child pornography from a computer in Northwest Arkansas, according to the affidavit. State Police obtained a warrant and learned the computer was at a Decatur address. That led police to Baughman’s home.

Police searched the home June 19 and found a computer with images of child pornography after a forensic examination, according to the affidavit.

Baughman was arrested June 19 in connection with the federal case.

Police also seized a cellphone from Baughman’s bedroom, according to court documents. The phone contained a 5-minute video of a child being touched by a man as the child slept, according to the affidavit.

Baughman admitted the phone belonged to him and he used it to record himself sexually touching a girl, according to court documents.

Baughman’s arraignment is set for Feb. 10. He is being held in the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

Gravette Fire Chief Dave Smith said Baughman was a volunteer firefighter with the department, but was fired.
