Homeless Vigil rescheduled for Monday

FAYETTEVILLE — The annual Homeless Vigil, sponsored by the Fayetteville High School Student Council, has been rescheduled to Monday night.

Student Council members plan to sleep outside in cardboard boxes to raise awareness about homelessness and to raise money to assist the Families in Transition program in the school district. The programs provides services to homeless students and their families.

The students hope to raise $20,000 for the program. Donations can be delivered to the vigil after 5 p.m. on Monday.

The students will be set up on the paved area adjacent to the vocational agriculture space on Bulldog Boulevard, formerly Stone Street.

Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the event twice in December.
