UAPB names dean of education school

PINE BLUFF -- Fredda Carroll has been named the dean of the School of Education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, school officials announced Tuesday.

Carroll has worked in education for 25 years and was serving as interim dean of the School of Education.

In addition, she has been coordinator of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education activities at UAPB for the past decade.

Carroll received bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro . She received her doctorate in education from the George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

She has served on many college and university committees, including the graduate council, curriculum committee and committee on committees.

This year, the UAPB School of Education will become a testing site for the new online GED exam, Carroll said. Last June, the school entered into a partnership with Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. The partnership has the potential for faculty exchanges, shared classes, student research and graduate assistantships for candidates, Carroll said.
